15.09.2004China's Ministry of Public Security has released a report finding that 87.9% of the computers in the country have been infected with a virus within the last year. China has more than 68 million internet users, many of whom fall victim to viruses even though most come as file attachments in e-mails written in English. The report names Sasser and Netsky as the viruses with the greatest impact in China. The report also finds that 36% of security incidents are caused by large spam transmissions; Sophos has named China as the world's third largest spam exporter, with most spam coming form the cracked machines of innocent users. The Chinese survey collected data from over 7,000 departments and 8,400 computer users.
